Nominator's project description
| Professor Levander is one of the internationally leading scientists in the field of geophysics, especially in seismic studies of mountain building processes. He has conducted seismic investigations in a number of key tectonic areas in the world and contributed essentially to our understanding of modern tectonics. A large part of his research is devoted to developing innovative seismic data processing methods for studies of the deep Earth structure. Currently he is engaged in the USArray initiative, an unprecedented project to study the North American lithosphere. |
